Adventure #1: NYC, May 29-30, 2007

Adventuring

On this adventure, we covered every borough and Hoboken, New Jersey.
We took Staten Island Ferry to meet Jill.
1:02pm

1:35pm

1:35pm

1:43pm

One of our many modes of transportation was Jill's car.
2:18pm

Our skiball tournament on Coney Island didn't go so well for Lillian.
5:31pm

Better for Hilary.

5:31pm

But Jill won.

5:31pm

We deserved everything we got at the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden.
8:33pm

8:43pm

Lillian's dry contacts and itchy mosquito bites warranted a trip to Rite Aid.
2:44am

The Apple Store is open 24 Hours a day, and we wanted to see who was hanging out there at 4am.
3:41am

No one, apparently.

3:42am

The Hoboken Sunrise over Manhattan was worth the PATH train trip.
5:46am

Orchard Beach was not worth the long subway ride, the hour bus wait, or worth taking your shoes off.
8:29am

9:52am

10:02am

Connecting

Matt & Chris showed up their office and gave us KitKats and Diet Coke.
12:37pm

12:35pm

Jill rocks. She drove us to Coney Island from Staten Island.
6:13pm

This Coney Island Couple asked us to send them a copy of the photo we took of them!
6:30pm

Patti (my Consumer Behavior professor from Fordham) joined up with us at the beer garden and answered some very interesting questions!

We met these Subway Sweethearts on our way to Apple Store.
12:21am

Fooding & Beveraging
Lunch on Staten Island with Jill.
2:46pm

Starbucks was a neccesity for recharging batteries and our brains...with caffeine.
4:13pm

We ate too many Coney Island Sweets.

6:35pm

Lillian's first attempt at a candy apple was brutal.

6:37pm

6:42pm

Beer, Burgers, and Kielbasa from Bohemia Hall was awesome, until Lillian found out what Kielbasa is.

9:11pm

Coffee & Tea at Dawn from Hilary's favorite coffee shop. Anywhere in the world.
5:33am

5:35am

The Hoboken Breakfast from a weird little restaurant that had a weird squeaking sound.
6:26am

Retrospecting

What Lillian Learned:
There is a big difference between candy apples and caramel apples.
The lens cap must always be off.
I liked Kielbasa, but then I found out what it was. No more.
I can sleep on a subway, if I have to. BUt I don't think I will.

Lillian's Highlights:
Abandoning my Cyclone virginity.
The perfect weather at Orchard Beach, although the place itself was a let down.
Skiball.
Clear, perfect sunrises over Manhattan, despite my muddled, foggy mind.

What Hilary Learned:
The red light means the video camera is rolling.
Lillian will eat meat as long as you don't tell her it's pork.
Hil, Lil, and Jill share a love for Avenue Q and the Clash.
I could have snuck into Kevin's Hoboken apt and taken pics from the roof. D'oh!

Hilary's Highlights:
Hearing Matt say he was gonna hit refresh all day on our Mologogo map.
Discovering that Jill had never been on the Cyclone, even though she was born and raised in Brooklyn and then being there when she experienced it for the first time!
My favorite coffee from Landmark in Hoboken coupled with a fantastic sunrise - YAY!
Meeting and interacting with neato-keen strangers.

Geographing

The Mologogo phone tracked us on a map all the way through our adventure.

The more English words I consume the more German words I discover among the English words. When you describe something that is more than just amazing, super, wow.. you use the term "uber". And this is best to describe your ideas and their realization. They are uberamazing, ubersuper, uberwow ;). I'm grateful you always let us take part on your life. And your 24h adventure really rocks.. no it uberrocks :). I hope to see more of you and your crazy friends :).
